Annual SPEAG / ZMT Hardware and Software Workshop in South Korea: A Great Success!

SPEAG and ZMT Zurich MedTech AG (ZMT) held their annual Hardware and Software Workshop at the Gachon Convention Center in Sungnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea on 27 October 2017. The workshop is an opportunity to demonstrate Z43's latest innovations and products, and to exchange information on recent advances and solutions for electromagnetic safety assessment and medical applications. DYMSTEC, Z43's sales distribution partner in South Korea, did an outstanding job organizing the event. Approximately 180 engineers and scientists from leading companies, universities, and government institutions of South Korea attended the event, which, as always, was a great success.

The workshop opened with welcome addresses from SPEAG President Prof. Niels Kuster and DYMSTEC CEO Young Bae Song. This year's workshop was organized into two parallel sessions, one with a focus on SPEAG's solutions for the mobile phone and telecommunications industries and the other, on solutions for life sciences and medical applications, specialized for ZMT and the IT’IS Foundation.

The SPEAG sessions on telecommunications and mobile telecommunications equipment (MTE), presented by Prof. Kuster and Dr. Mark Douglas, included demonstrations of SPEAG’s novel hardware and software solutions for electromagnetic analysis. Hardware solutions covered included DASY6, cSAR3D, TDS, DAK, and EM-Phantoms, with the spotlight on SPEAG's new 5G-ready system for measurement of power density at millimeter wave frequencies. The 5G solution was recently used in a successful application for FCC type acceptance certification of a 60 GHz WiGig module. Also highlighted were SPEAG's new systems for assessment of wireless power transfer (WPT) exposure and optical technology for radiofrequency-transparent measurement of antenna parameters. Invited speakers from Postech University and Samsung presented excellent work targeting industry needs and research efforts for 5G applications. The concluding SPEAG session on software, led by Dr. Nicolas Chavannes and Dr. Sylvain Reboux of ZMT and included a live-demonstration of the latest release of SPEAG's SEMCAD X Matterhorn V17.0, featuring the platform’s new multi-parameter multi-goal optimizer as well as novel tools for the design and analysis of 5G and other wireless transmitters.

Drs. Chavannes and Reboux also made presentations during the parallel ZMT / IT'IS sessions of the workshop.

The event closed with the ever popular raffle followed by a dinner party.

Congratulations, DYMSTEC, on successful organization of the workshop!
