Release of SEMCAD Poser
SEMCAD X Poser Package has been developed to allow deformation of all the supported human/animal model. It is now possible to deform the underlying rigid skeleton by specifying the required orientation at the articulated joints. Various models are available from SPEAG which have been prepared for positioning. It is also possible to add posing abilities to own models. Novel techniques allow deformations to be smoothly visualized in real time. Rapid switching between pre-saved (and user-defined) postures can be performed.
The implemented poser is based on techniques developed for animation pictures features. It offers the following benefits:
- easy articulation of joints in their physiological ranges
- deformation of the soft tissue without loss of connectivity and without changes in the total tissue volume
- predefined postures for standing, sitting and lying persons

Release of SEMCAD Huygens
SPEAG in cooperation with the IT’IS Foundation has developed a novel, user-friendly generalized interface, the Generalized Huygens Box that effectively couples different solvers without accelerating error propagation. It is based on the concepts of the Huygens Box, a generalized Total-Field Scattered-Field (TFSF) plane wave excitation, and the Block Iterative Technique, which solves weakly coupled problems effectively.
The novel general Huygens Box technique and its implementation have proven to be a user-friendly and open interface to bridge multiple spatial dimensions, a major breakthrough for application engineers to analyze the EM issues of current and future devices and applications. The SEMCAD Huygens is easy to use and can be interfaced with any commercial or in-house code or even measurement results.
SPEAG is developing new algorithms to enhance the effectiveness of this new technique while collaborating with different software houses to provide user-friendly interfaces with different EM packages and the SEMCAD X solver family.

SEMCAD X Student Research Award 2007 Winners
| Schmid & Partner Engineering AG (SPEAG) is very pleased to announce the winners of SEMCAD X Student Research Award 2007: |
New Phantom - TwinSAM-Chin20
The growing number of mobile phones with antennas at the bottom of the device prompted the FCC to question the appropriateness of the current Twin SAM phantoms if peak absorption occurs in the upper part of the chin. In response, the latest draft of the IEEE1528 revision suggests alternative phantoms enabling accurate measurements for these exposure conditions, i.e., a probe angle of less than 20 degrees with respect to the normal surface.
Once more, SPEAG is the first company to offer a solution satisfying this new requirement.

In summary, vector probes are universal probes and a great analysis tool. They should be used wherever great precision is needed, field polarization must be validated or parasitic currents detected. The measurement time compared to isotropic probes is only increased by just more than a factor two (minimally three measurements at different angles need to be taken at each measurement point).

TMFS (Telephone Magnetic Field Simulator)
In response to several requests, we have developed the Telephone Magnetic Field Simulator (TMFS), designed according to ANSI S3.22-2003.
A TMFS unit is intended to use as a reference check of the test setup and instrumentation prior T-Coil signal measurements.
The SPEAG TMFS has been optimized for an easy positioning/usage with the already available HAC Test Arch . The signal to 600 Ohm input can be supplied either from a separate, calibrated source or from the AMMI unit. A second connector allows monitoring the signal with a calibrated voltmeter. The TMFS has a flat frequency response and includes calibration at 1kHz for the axial and radial field maxima at 10mm scanning distance.
Please contact info@speag.com for more information and quotes.SHO V2 (SAM HAND OTA Version 2)
SPEAG is pleased to announce the long awaited hand phantoms (SHO V2) for our SAM V4.5 head phantoms, which may be used as part of a system to conduct testing to CTIA's Test Plan for Mobile Station Over the Air Performance. Since accurate positioning of the phone in the hand and at the head is a key parameter to obtain results with low uncertainty, we have integrated a high precision fixture/positioner that provides minimal uncertainty and is easy-to-use. Get the best solution on the market before the standard is even issued! SPEAG also provides adapters for the SAM V4.5 with SHO V2 for most OTA systems. Precise Field, SAR and T Measurements
in MRI
EASY4MRI makes its worldwide debut as the first ever line of measurement equipment that is fully compatible for operation within MRI scanners (tested in 1.5T and 3T, 7T to be tested next month). It enables measurement of the incident H-field (B1-field) and E-field (E1-Field) with a precision of better than 6% and an isotropy error of better than +/- 0.3dB (link to both probes). All three components can be evaluated separately. The induced fields or SAR values in body simulating phantoms (e.g., ASTM) can be measured with a precision of better than 12% using the world's smallest isotropic dosimetric probe EX3DV4. The system is also compatible with the most sensitive temperature probes (noise level <2 mK) available today. All probes can be accurately positioned using the modified ASTM phantom.

Facedown Head Phantom SAM 6.0

In response to several requests, we have developed the facedown phantom SAM V 6.0 . It allows assessment of the exposure of the face and in particular the eyes for handheld devices operated in front of the face, e.g., video phones, cameras, organizers, etc. The facedown head phantom is manufactured using high precision injection molding (shell thickness except for the ear: 2 +/- 0.2mm) and is compatible with all of our tissue simulating liquids. The same device positioner (Mounting Device including extension kit) can be used to position the device. A special software extension allows accurate measurements within the region of the eyes and nose. Please contact info@speag.com for more information and quotes.

Call for Participation in Round-Robin Test
for DASY4 Customers
The general concept of the envisioned round-robin SAR testing is to use two mobile phones (DUT) having typical SAR distributions together with the SAM-Twin phantom filled with the head-tissue simulating liquid, whereby the two phones and the liquid would be supplied by SPEAG. Each laboratory would follow a measurement protocol defined and described in detail by SPEAG.
The number of different SAR assessments (e.g. frequencies and DUT positions) will be chosen such that the measurement time does not exceed 1 working day per laboratory. Participation fee and the duration of the round-robin exercise will strongly depend on the number of interested laboratories and will be announced later.
