iSAR² (head & flat) represents the next generation of immediate SAR scanners from SPEAG. The iSAR² systems are ultra-fast scanners that evaluate the overall RF performance, SAR pattern and peak spatial SAR for 1 gram and 10 gram averaging volumes within less than 3 seconds. iSAR² (head) and iSAR² (flat) evaluate devices operated at the ear and on the body respectively. Both systems provide reliable, repeatable performance and support automated testing.

Application – Production Line Testing

iSAR² complies with the requirements of production line testing. All tests are conducted under typical loaded conditions when operated close to the body and can be evaluated with respect to a reference phone. It provides a host of new advantages instantly (<3 s) and reliably (<0.1 dB):

• detects non-compliance with safety limits
  
• detects deviations from target antenna input power
  
• detects any deviation in RF performance compared to a reference phone (e.g., antenna matching, poor contacts, shielding problems)

Application – Prototype Testing

Provides total confidence automated testing in combination with a tester, e.g., CMU200:

• measurement and visualization of the complete absorption pattern 4 mm below the surface
• visualization of differences in the absorption pattern between prototypes
• evaluation of the effect of small design modifications on RF performance, such as the different quality of interconnections, shielding, antenna feeds, etc.
• spatial peak SAR (deviation from DASY5 evaluation of less than 0.5 dB for the majority of transmitters)
• repeatability of less than 0.2 dB using the combiner feature (the combiner feature combines numerous measurements by registration to substantially increase the resolution and reduce the isotropy and calibration uncertainty.
